It’s highly rumored that Xiaomi is producing its own SOC chips or processors to power up its own line of smartphone devices, instead of depending on Qualcomm and MediaTek. Today, we have definite details about Xiaomi’s Pinecone SOC chips, which are revealed on Weibo, China’s Twitter. The SoC details are confirmed as Pinecone has got a new official Weibo page.
As per the information shared on the social network, Xiaomi is engaged in the production of two model numbers – V670 and V970. While the V670 is complete in its construction, having 4 x A53 + 4 x A53 octa-core architecture with Mali T860 MP4 GPU, pegged at 800 MHz, the V970 has 4 x A73 +4 x A53 octa-core architecture with the 10nm process.
The V670 chip is expected to be on a par with Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and would be used in the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5C, whose rumors are no less.
The V970 is still in the laboratories and may get ready by the fourth quarter of this year. It is reported to use Mali G71 MP12 GPU clocked at 900MHz.
