Xiaomi has finally introduced its two most anticipated budget phones Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus at an event in Bejing, China. Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, both are the successor of Redmi 4 which was launched this May. Let’s check out the specifications of these smartphones.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Specifications
Xiaomi Redmi 5 sports a 5.7-inch HD+ 2.5D curved glass display with a resolution of 1440×720 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The display offers narrow bezels and 1000: 1 Contrast Ratio. The handset features unibody metal design. The device is powered by 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 processor along with Adreno 506 GPU. In terms of RAM and storage, the smartphone comes in two variants; 2GB RAM with 16GB onboard storage, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. The memory is expandable up to 128GB with microSD. Out of the box, Redmi 5 runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with MIUI 9 on the top.
As far as the camera is concerned, the handset features a 12MP rear-facing camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF while on the front, it has a 5MP snapper with LED flash.
The fingerprint sensor in this phone is mounted at the back. The device has Hybrid Dual SIM functionality with 4G VoLTE support. To keep the lights on, it has a 3300mAh battery.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Pricing
Xiaomi Redmi 5 comes with a price tag of 799 yuan ($120 / Rs. 7,795 approx.) for 2GB RAM variant and 899 yuan ($135 / Rs. 8,770 approx.) for 3GB RAM variant. The phone will be available on 12th December in China. Redmi 5 comes in Black, Light Blue, Gold and Rose Gold color variants.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus Specifications
Redmi 5 Plus features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ 2.5D curved glass display with a resolution of 2160 × 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor along with Adreno 506 GPU. Just like Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus also comes in two variants; 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The storage can be further expanded up to 128GB with microSD. The device is fuelled by a huge 4000mAh battery which offers up to 2 days of battery life. Apart from these, other specs like camera, connectivity, OS are same as Redmi 5.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus Pricing
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus comes with a price tag of 999 yuan ($151 / Rs. 9,745 approx.) for 3GB RAM variant and 1299 yuan ($195 / Rs. 12,675 approx.) for the 4GB RAM variant. Redmi 5 Plus will be available from December 12th. The device comes in Black, Light Blue, Gold and Rose Gold color options.
