Sony has made the Xperia XZ2 Compact official during the event at MWC 2018. Despite the “Compact” branding and having an elder sibling in the lineup, the XZ2 Compact does not skimp on any features.
For starters, powering the device is the all-new Snapdragon 845 from Qualcomm along with Adreno 630 GPU, 4GB RAM and runs on the Android 8.0.0 Oreo software.
Unlike the larger Xperia XZ2, which comes with a glass construction, the XZ2 Compact has a polycarbonate construction that is resistant to scratches. There is also a stereo speaker setup on the front of the device with “S-Force Front Surround”.
The display is a 5-inch unit with 18:9 ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Apart from the 64GB ROM available, storage expansion is also supported via MicroSD card up to 400GB in addition.
The Xperia XZ2 Compact is again water and dust resistant with IP65/IP68 certification and features a 2870mAh battery that supports Qualcomm fast charging 3.0 and Qnovo Adaptive Charging tech.
The fingerprint sensor is present on the back beneath the 19MP single lens primary camera which supports video recording at 4K resolution and slo-mo videos at 960 frames per second. There is also a secondary camera present of 5MP resolution.
Even though no info related to pricing is available, what we do know is that the device will begin sales from March and will be available in four color variants: Moss Green, Black, Coral Pink and White Silver.
