The market hype around the next-gen Samsung flagships isn’t any less. And, leaks, one after the other, are adding extra to the overall influence. The recent leak has its moorings in China.
The information, pertaining to the model numbers of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, has been disclosed recently, and it is said that the devices will be named SM-G950X and SM-G955X respectively for the international markets. However, for the Chinese markets, the variants have been given different names.
The people in China, Korea and several other parts of Asia dislike the idea of using the number four (4) for any auspicious event, as it is considered an ominous number. This is why the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus variants have been labeled as SM-G9500 and SM-G9550 respectively.
The letter ‘X’ will be replaced by another letter, depending upon the regions of their trade and carrier. A user confirmed this by showing a model number of SM-G955U, which also revealed that the next flagships by Samsung are equipped with Android 7.0 Nougat.
Samsung is making preparations to release its S8 flagships at MWC, scheduled to take place next month in Barcelona. The devices will be on sale during April this year.
