Yesterday, Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched a new mobile app called BHIM. BHIM is a reliable app for making cashless payments. Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) can be associated with other Unified Payment Interface (UPI) applications as well as multiple bank accounts.
The app is named after Dalit icon, Bhim Rao Ambedkar. All you have to do to use it is, download the app from Google Play and register your bank account with the app by setting up a UPI pin. One can start transactions immediately. The mobile number will be used as payment address.
This app is expected to rule out payment fees for MasterCard and Visa services and minimize the role of plastic money. You will be able to check bank balance with this app. As of now, the app is available only in English and Hindi. The best thing is, you can also transfer money to non-UPI supported banks. Modi indicated that this e-wallet might be upgraded with a fingerprint verification feature in near future.
Download the App now from Google Play.
