A few days ago, a leaked video from Russia portrayed that Instagram might come with a live video feature in its next update. Recently, this is confirmed by none other than the company’s CEO.
Kevin Systrom, Instagram’s CEO is quoted by The Financial Times as, “Live is really exciting for us. If I’m trying to strengthen relationships with someone I love, them streaming video to me live would be an amazing way to be closer to them.”
However, no specific date of release of the update is declared yet. Considering the Russian video leak we might assume that the update will happen soon.
Systrom further stated, “if you’re the CEO of a company and all of a sudden 100 million people are using a new format every single day, it’s not something you ignore. You push investment into it.”
It seems that the live video feature will be a part of the Stories feature which was introduced back in August.
