At the ongoing ChinaJoy entertainment expo, HTC has unveiled their brand new all-in-one virtual reality headset, the HTC Vive Standalone. What makes the HTC Vive Standalone different from the previously launched HTC Vive VR headset is that it does not require you to plug in any wires or set up any sensors.
The HTC Vive Standalone is tagged as a premium VR headset and powering the headset is the Snapdragon 835 chipset. The HTC Vive Standalone does not run applications from the Google Play Store, instead, apps from HTC’s own Viveport platform can be used.
The HTC Vive Standalone will exclusively be available in China initially. No other information on the hardware specifications, price or possible global launch is known as of now.
