Hardware & Build Quality
Coolpad Cool 1 has a full metal body with unibody design. It feels very nice to hold in the hand and also looks very premium. The screen-to-body ratio is very good means less Bezels. At the back, the device has a Dual Camera setup and just on the right side of that it has a Dual-tone LED Flash. A fingerprint sensor is placed just beneath the Camera module.
On the front, it has a 5.5-inch Display and a front-facing Camera at the top side of the device. Under the device, it has Speaker grills with USB Type-C between that. The device looks a lot similar to LeEco Le 2 and just like that smartphone this one looks very good in the hand. Despite of having a 5.5-inch Display the device is perfect for one hand use. On the other hand, the device features all the necessary sensors Gyroscope, Infrared controller, Fingerprint sensor, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Light sensor, E-Compass. Sometimes we don’t find Gyroscope sensor in the 40k phones so having it is a big plus point.
Display
Coolpad Cool 1 is having a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS in-cell display with 72% NTSC color gamut and 450nits brightness. Because of narrow bezels and a black border around that the Display looks pretty good. The colors depth is very good as it has 403 ppi pixel density and it can be easily used in the sunlight with full brightness. The contrast and brightness are fine, and it offers very good viewing angles. The display is not very reflective thus presents less difficulties when in use.
Performance & Gaming
Coolpad Cool 1 is powered by Octa-Core Snapdragon 652 processor with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 510 GPU. The inside of the device is all about LeEco. The 4GB RAM ensures the smooth performance and multi-tasking. With LeEco’s eUI 5.8 the device works very well. We prefer eUI over some other UI like MIUI, ZenUI because it’s very light-weight and very easy to use for a normal user. The multitasking section is pretty good with eUI as it loads the previous apps or games very fast.
We have tested some heavy games like Asphalt 8: Airborne, Modern Combat 5, Real Racing 3, Virtua Tennis and so far it was a very good experience. Only fear is the unavailability of a microSD slot, as a result of which, the heavy games may eat up a lot of space in your phone. This could have been better if Coolpad had added a Hybrid slot. Anyway, the games run smooth even with the highest settings.
Camera
One of the best selling points of this smartphone is the camera of Cool 1. The device is having 13MP+13MP Dual Camera setup at the back which works just fabulous. We are really surprised by the camera performance of this device at a fantastic price segment. We have tested the camera in different conditions. In bright light, the outcome of the picture quality is just great. The color reproduction, saturation are excellent in the images. In low light, the Dual camera performs very well, but with the single camera sometimes we have noticed some grains in the pictures. Another highlighting feature is its capacity to record videos at 4K. In videos the colors are a bit over-saturated.
Cool 1 comes with an 8MP front-facing camera which again takes great selfies. In bright light, it just takes amazing selfies. In low light, it also performs very well, but again we noticed grains in the pictures. But at the same price segment, it beats all.

Battery and Sound
Coolpad Cool 1 comes with a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 for fast charging. The device can be charged from 0-50% within 30 minutes. With heavy usage, the battery lasts for around 15-16hours and with medium usage it lasts around one and half day. For normal users, it might go up to 2 days. That is just amazing for a phone under ₹15K.
In terms of the sound quality, it is not the best but just average. Audio output from 3.5mm jack is also average. There are no issues with call quality. So far the sound system is just average, not complaining as most of the Android phones in the price segment are same.
Final Verdict
After using it for almost 15days, we will say this is just the perfect smartphone you need when you have a budget under ₹15000. The phone is priced at ₹13,999 and has all the features you need for daily usage. You can buy this smartphone from Amazon.in.
Great review. One question though. Many reviews on Amazon mentions it doesn’t come with fast charger. U used the charger provided in the package or u used another fast charger?
Thanks. I used the charger provided in the package only.
