Very often Apple waits in sidelines for a new appropriate technology and releases it only when the technology is matured enough. This often ends up in grand sales. As for now, grand scale sale of the OLED screen technology might mean around 70 million such panels!
According to reports, Apple joined hands with Samsung for about 100 million OLED panels. However, the OLED panels are not exclusive for this duopoly as Vivo announced that its Xplay 6 model will come with the same display with that of Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Further, a group of Chinese phone manufacturers is teaming up to form a consortium and scale up production of OLED displays from sources other than this duopoly.
Apple may integrate this OLED display to its next generation of Tablets and Smartphones and its demand is also estimated to stay at least till 2020. This will make their products less competitive.
Oppo, Vivo, and Huawei are expected to invest on Royole, an OLED screen maker to boost up production of OLED panels.
It seems that Chinese makers are not at all concerned with 2017 since Apple will be releasing only one OLED iPhone model. They are more interested in capturing the market Smartphone from 2018 to 2020.
