Though Samsung supplies various Smartphone components like Displays, RAMs, processors, flash memory modules and others to the manufacturing industry; it has to depend on US based company, Synaptics, for fingerprint technology. Synaptics is renowned for interface development.
As per recent rumors, Samsung is working on its own fingerprint scanners. The department responsible for better interface and processor, System LSI department is believed to be working on the company’s own fingerprint scanner since last year.
If the rumor comes out true, in the next year the Korean company might release low and mid range Smartphones with built-in fingerprint scanners to make the technology ready for high-end Smartphones.
