According to a new report from market research firm Strategy Analytics, Apple has now become the leading smartphone manufacturer in the world. It’s the first time in the past five years that the iPhone maker has outranked its rival, Samsung. The report also reveals that Apple has occupied 17.8% market share by shipping over 78.3 million smartphones in Q4 2016.
However, the Korean company, Samsung managed to capture 17.7% market share by shipping 77.5 million devices in the quarter. The report alleges it’s the iPhone’s best performance for over a year which the Cupertino-based company capitalized on Samsung’s mistakes. The South Korean giant lost its momentum in the quarter due to the issues arose with Galaxy Note 7 battery. The Chinese brands namely Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo were also among the top 5 with 10.2%, 6.7%, and 5.8% market share, respectively.
